Getting started

For a brand-new store, getting Bumps live starts with building your first offer. Once you have one, the rest of the go-live checklist is activate, publish, and verify.

Step 1: Create your first offer

Go to Offers → New offer. Pick a type that matches your goal (a simple discount bump at checkout is the fastest win for most stores), fill in the details, and click Launch.

Step 2: Activate placements in your Wix Editor

After installing Bumps, open your Wix site Editor, find the Bumps placement slots (they appear in your Widgets panel), and place them on the correct pages. Hit Publish in the Editor. Until you publish, shoppers won't see anything.

Tip: Use the "Activate" step in the Bumps Go-live checklist. It shows you exactly which slots to add and confirms they're placed.

Step 3: Verify on your live store

Add a product to your cart and open it. Your bump should appear. If it doesn't, check the troubleshooting guide.

You also get a Sticky Add-to-Cart bar, free on every plan. On each product page, once a shopper scrolls past the buy button, Bumps shows a slim bar that keeps Add to Cart in reach (with the price, and an in-bar size/variant picker when the product needs one). It's off until you switch it on in Store tools, in the Bumps sidebar: no offer to build, no discount involved, and it takes effect without republishing. It appears once the shopper scrolls your own Add to Cart button out of view, and hides again when they scroll back to it.

Offer types

Cart bump

A product offer shown inside the shopping cart. Best for add-ons, accessories, or a discounted companion item. Converts well because the shopper is already in buying mode.

Checkout upsell

Shown at the checkout page. The highest-intent surface: the shopper has entered their details. Use for high-margin add-ons or a warranty/protection offer.

Frequently Bought Together (FBT)

Recommended products, up to 3, as a grid on the product page, in the side cart, or as a compact list at checkout. Powered by Wix's recommendation engine (updated overnight). Add up to 3 fallback products to show while the engine has no data for your store yet, or switch on bundle mode to discount a set of 2 or 3 products bought together.

Volume bundle

A "buy more, save more" offer on the product page. E.g. "Buy 2 for 15% off, Buy 3 for 20% off."

Progress threshold (spend-goal bar)

A progress bar in the side cart showing how close the shopper is to a reward: a percentage or a fixed amount off. Set 2 to 5 tiers if you like. The reward auto-applies via a Wix Discount Rule when the threshold is hit, and the bar stays visible on every checkout step.

Gamified reveal

A scratch-to-reveal "golden ticket" in the side cart. Every scratch wins a prize from the pool you set (percentage or fixed-amount discounts, with odds that add up to 100%), and it applies automatically as a one-hour coupon.

Additional fee (warranty, gift wrap, carbon offset)

An add-on fee at checkout: warranty, gift wrap, carbon offset, insurance, or handling. Either the shopper opts in with a checkbox row inside the checkout summary, or it applies automatically to every cart. The fee is added via Wix's Additional Fees API.

Thank-you page upsell

A thank-you page offer shown after the order is placed. If the shopper accepts, the item goes into a new cart for its own checkout.

Auto-optimization & A/B testing

How does Bumps pick which offer to show?

When you have multiple active offers competing for the same spot, Bumps runs a Thompson bandit: a statistical algorithm that automatically routes more traffic to whichever offer is converting better right now, while still exploring the others. You don't set a "winner": Bumps shifts traffic continuously as results come in.

In plain terms: if Offer A has a 12% accept rate and Offer B has 8%, Bumps shows A more, but keeps showing B to collect data and catch it if it gets better over time. No winner-declaration needed.
New offers wait their turn: a brand-new offer added to a spot where an established offer (30+ views) already runs gets no traffic until you archive the established one, so an untested offer never steals from one that is working. Offers launched together into an empty spot compete from the start.

A/B testing within an offer

You can also test versions of a single offer (headline, discount, image). Go to the offer's Versions tab, enable the test, and add up to 3 versions. Allocate traffic % across them; 50/50 is a clean start. Auto-promote is on by default: once a version clears your confidence threshold (99% unless you change it in Settings → Auto-promote), it gets all of the offer's traffic. Switch auto-promote off there if you'd rather promote winners yourself.

What is a holdout / causal lift?

A holdout is a percentage of shoppers who see no bump at all. By comparing their conversion rate to the shoppers who did see bumps, Bumps can calculate the exact incremental revenue Bumps created, not just revenue that happened while bumps were running.

It's on by default at 5% for every store, so Bumps always knows its true lift. That means about 1 in 20 shoppers (possibly you, when you check your own store) sees no bump; that's the control group working as intended. Change the percentage or turn it off in Settings → Holdout; 5–10% is enough for most stores. The causal lift number appears on your Home page once enough data has been collected (typically 2–3 weeks).

Triggers & targeting

Triggers control when an offer shows. If no trigger is set, the offer shows to every eligible shopper.

Cart value trigger

Show the offer only when the cart total is above or below a threshold. Use "above $50" to show a premium add-on, or "below $30" to show a value item that rounds up the order.

Product-in-cart trigger

Show only when a specific product (or any product from a collection) is in the cart. Useful for "buy X, get Y off Z" cross-sell pairs.

Member trigger

Show only to logged-in Wix members (or only to guests). Use for exclusive member deals or to target first-time buyers.

Schedule window

Set a start and end date for flash sales or seasonal promotions. The offer auto-pauses at the end date without any action needed.

Note: Triggers stack with AND logic. An offer with a $50 cart trigger AND a product trigger only shows when both are true.

My offer isn't showing

1. Have you published your Wix site?

Changes in the Wix Editor (including activating Bumps placements) only go live after you click Publish. Check that you've published after adding the Bumps slots.

2. Is the offer status Active?

Go to Offers in your dashboard. The offer must be in Active status. Draft and paused offers don't show.

3. Does the offer's trigger match the current cart?

If the offer has a cart-value or product trigger, make sure those conditions are met. Try adding the required product or meeting the cart-value threshold.

4. Is the offer type compatible with the slot?

Certain offer types only appear on specific pages. For example, Thank-you page upsell only shows after an order is placed; a Product page bump only shows on a product page. Make sure you're on the right page.

Cart offers show in the slide-out cart drawer, not the full cart page. Wix lets apps add content to the checkout page, the side cart and the thank-you page. The cart page isn't one of them. If your cart icon opens the full cart page instead of the drawer, cart bumps won't appear there. Switching the cart icon to open the side cart makes them visible.

5. Soft launch / rollout percent

If the offer was launched with a soft-launch rollout, only a percentage of shoppers see it. Check the offer's Launch settings. If rollout is set to less than 100%, some sessions will see nothing by design.

Understanding your results

Impressions

The number of times an offer was shown to a shopper. An impression is counted once per session, per offer, so repeat views in the same session don't inflate the count.

Accepts (conversions)

How many shoppers clicked the offer's CTA and added the product to their cart.

Conversion rate

Accepts ÷ Impressions. The bandit uses this rate to route traffic: a higher rate means more exposure.

Revenue attributed

The revenue from orders that included the bumped product. Note: this is attributed revenue (the shopper may have bought anyway), not incremental revenue. See Causal lift below for the true incremental revenue.

Causal lift

The proven incremental revenue from Bumps, calculated by comparing the holdout group (no bumps) to the active group. This is the only number that proves Bumps is making you more money, not just running alongside organic purchases.
